On Saturday 24th September Machine’s star which has been reaching out in recent months, pulls back in white dwarf mode about to implode. This month we turn our focus inboard with a Machine Label night featuring some of the artists we’ve been fortunate enough to land and release on the label. Local talent we’re taking to the world. Talent the world is taking notice of.
We bring you: ENCLAVE on the eve of his new EP: Forest Gate [MACH032] to be released in late October. As happy as we’d be to claim ENCLAVE it’d be far from the truth as, over a long and increasingly storied career beginning in 2004 his productions have been spread across a litany of labels including: IF?, Elektrax imprints Translucent and Gynoid, Pinksilver, Gaintrax and of course Machine Label. You may notice these labels have a distinctly Australian leaning, and this says something of the unique quality of the Enclave sound. Through the use of hardware and custom synthesis and ably supported with computer and controllers it may be said that ENCLAVE weaves a thread that through this machine syntax evokes the red ochre of this land, embodying an earthy richness seldom found in the techno-sphere. This is particularly evident in this newest release: the Forest Gate title track being more than an arbitrary name, as the track samples a rusty old farm gate swinging in the wind in the wilds of Australia. Put to good use, the sound underlies a deep, driving, layered and textured techno journey into the expansive, sprawling and deeply mysterious inner and outer landscapes and soundscapes. Simply said we’re really excited about this release and equally excited to be celebrating ENCLAVE at this event.
JUAN TELLEZ - on the back of his Stamina EP [MACH029] we invite Juan back into the control booth to weave a little more of the magic that had the dance floor mesmerised at the re-opening in June this year. Accomplished on both sides of the dj/producer spectrum it is our vast pleasure to invite this mans warm and inviting vibe and his compelling and devastating techno drive.
BACKROOM REALITY - Where are thou? Where hast ye been? As the Lateral guise has spiked in presence and popularity, some quarters have decried the absence of the earlier moniker of Matthew Drape, the atmospheric and experimental alias first signed by Machine Label back in 2013. Backroom Realityis a favourite of ours and it has been too long since we’ve had these sounds taking the lead at the club.
SIMON SLIEKER - Back from an 8 week jaunt around the globe and loaded up with sizzling vinyl from some of the premiere stores and hot spots of Berlin and New York. After missing the August Machine he's looking forward to coming home, and playing to the home crowd and all that comes with it: family, friends, and freaks of the dance floor.
ANDREW TILL - Solid, steadfast and holding true at the stern of the ship. A techno adventurer of the high seas, worthy of his own saga of Australian electronic culture and ready to pilot the vessel through the most treacherous waters, through the shoals of discontent, and on into the distant glow of a new techno dawn.
And so the scene is set for this Machine Implosion. Across two rooms and amidst the fury and wonder of the dual Funcktion-One sound systems, we invite you weary traveller to come inside for this glimpse into the inner world of the Machine Label.
