Joining the two crews is a stellar selection of special guests from across the Techno spectrum.

Fergus Sweetland (Bomphcast / Hayes Collective)

Ranjit Nijjer (Technoir / Machine Label)

Daniel Filipovic (Southern Light)

Andrew Till (Machine)

Machine Label artist Metapattern, now based in Berlin, will be making an exclusive appearance in Melbourne after a many year absence.

Joining him is local superstar Fergus Sweetland of Bomphcast and Hayes Collective, who is making his first appearance for both crews.

Providing additional support is Southern Lights boss Daniel Filipovic, bringing with him his signature deep and hypnotic sounds. Rounding out the guests will be Olivias, a vinyl only DJ duo that will be supplying an eclectic Electro focused experience to the upstairs room on the night.

Alongside all these amazing invitees will of course be Machine and Technoir chiefs Andrew Till and Ranjit Nijjer, together with double agent Simon Slieker, an integral part of both brands.

Live visuals will be provided by the super talented VDMO and the sound will be delivered by one of this city’s premier Funktion One sound systems.

This will definitely be one for the ages!

Morion - Armageddon EP [MACH072]

19 December 2022

Hailing from Cyprus, Morion likes to explore the world of dark, hypnotic and industrial techno through his hardware only explorations, which are often inspired by the good dirty old school tresor sound in spirit.

Like a nomad his sound travels through the abyss of underground  into areas of rave, minimal techno & acid and with recent releases on Diffuse Reality & Subsist, his journey into the sprawling catacombs of techno is purely underway.

[MACH071]

This EP is perfectly paced to take the listener on an odyssey rarely found in one release. From the forest floor of Ancient Species onto the launch pad of Mission Briefing only to be catapulted into the stars with Resolute and then brought back to earth with the aptly titled Retrieval - this EP deserves to be heard in its entirety.

Ancients Species
Take a detour into the forest, Ancient Species takes us into a call and response narrative that summons the spirits and entitities of a nameless and timeless space. Loaded with the bass roll we’ve come to know Nijjer for he doesn’t disappoint here. Bassline driven Ancient Species takes on layers of percussive sophistication that amounts to a cumulative delight. Who are these Ancients Species other than our contemporary selves? This one will drive the dancefloor beyond the dark and into the light of day.

Mission Briefing
From the forest floor onto the launch pad, here we are swept away by the casual motifs of a futuristic sci-fi scape. Echoes of our Detroit forefathers with synthetic bleepery bound together with a casual rise and fall bass motif and compelling human voice echoing in and out of the comms.

Resolute
Huge! Resolute has it all, escalating tonality, compelling range, massive breakdown, beautiful melodic structure, all driven by an unrelenting syncopated drumline. The whole composition demands to be heard - somewhere between hitting play and reaching the end we are transported to that un-nameable realm where we get a glimpse of our lost moments in time.

Retrieval
Apt that the closer for this EP should be Retrieval: after being jetisoned into space via partical beam in Resolute we are forensically recomposed by Retrieval. Piece by piece the driving minimalism here puts us back together. Compelling and purposeful the composition is the perfect pick up for the opening dancelfloor, the crusing speed found in the middle and also for the closure of the end. Retrieval is the utility blade of the record box. Slice ‘em up or put ‘em back together. Your choice.
