And so after the epic release of Rainbow, we all come back to Melbourne, if not to Earth. For at Machine we’re offering up a brief reprieve from torpid reality, with a guest, that for the initiated will be at fever pitch. The rest of you will be, after hearing her at Rainbow Serpent where she is headlining as one of the premiere techno artists.
As the title has already told, this artist is none other than Dasha Rush.
Dasha Rush is a Russian-born artist who sees the genre as a starting place, not a destination. Most commonly known as a respected and well-travelled DJ and live performer, Dasha combines her activities as techno producer and dj with multi-artistic collaborations alongside artists and dancers.
Since gliding into global electronic focus in 2005, Dasha has continued to experiment and push the boundaries of electronic music, from her solo releases to those of the LADA project with Lars Hemmerling.
Her most recent album, Sleepstep, released on the enigmatic Raster-Noton imprint, is a perfect example of her versatility. Whilst being a step away from her more floor friendly productions it’s been one of the most lauded albums of the year. But when it comes to working the floor, Dasha’s technique is tried and tested. These days you’ll find her name mentioned in the same breath as some of the heaviest hitters in techno for her seamless ability in crafting dark, futuristic and ultimately beautiful techno sets. From her productions her own imprint, Fullpanda (as well as her more experimental sub label, Hunger to Create) to releases on Token, the legendary Sonic Groove imprint, as well as remixes for the likes of Inigo Kennedy, Donato Dozzy and beyond…
If taking the slogan from her label, Fullpanda, which perfectly describes the musical attention of Dasha Rush and related labels, there is no need for more words; "All you need is ears".
ANDREW TILL and SIMON SLIEKER present the best of their individual wares, in their individual ways. Look at for these two architects of all things MACHINE, interspersed throughout the night and ready to net the uninitiated and raise horizons to the blind.
